Theatrical creation in FLE (24h)

Gaëlle Karcher

Creative linguistic and didactic training course
Do you teach French as a foreign language? You've never done any acting, but you've always dreamed of performing in French? Do you need to develop your oral fluency and want to experiment with phonetic correction in movement? Would you like to discover creative teaching practices and enjoy collective adventures? This creative linguistic and pedagogical improvement course is for you!

This training module is a theatrical creation to be co-constructed with the group and presented at the end of the course. The theatrical creation will be based on a short play drawn from the contemporary dramatic repertoire for young people. The text will be linguistically accessible (from B1 level), culturally appropriate (universal theme) and dramaturgically sound.
The aim of this training module is twofold: to perfect the language and the teaching skills.

Language training
This training is not something you do from behind or in front of a screen, it's something you experience. Depending on the teaching context, this is an opportunity for the trainee :

  • immerse themselves in the French language and perform it on stage;
  • reinforce their own practice of spoken French ;
  • improve oral fluency, whatever your level of expertise in the language being taught;
  • experience a collective adventure among peers to forge links and bind together a community of teachers.

Didactic improvement
At the end of this course, trainees will have experimented with creative teaching practices to develop their learners' oral skills, as well as theatrical techniques to stage a play with their classes. They will leave with :

  • tools for correcting pronunciation, working on diction, rhythm and breath;
  • techniques for carrying the voice, playing with intonation, pauses and silences;
  • rituals to stimulate and motivate learning ;
  • ideas for fun exercises to build group cohesion ;
  • techniques and tips for putting a theatrical text into voice and space with a large group of participants;
  • techniques and strategies for memorizing a text and playing with emotions ;
  • ideas for texts suitable for school theater, and an opening onto the contemporary dramatic repertoire for young people.
