Training
The DUEF (B1, B2, C1, C2) is a comprehensive program combining language and subject courses. It supports students in their academic career and prepares them for a recognized university diploma (DU)*.
Cultural activities complete the itinerary, immersing you in the French language and culture.
* The DUEF gives access to higher education at UGA and most French universities from the Licence 2 level upwards.
An AB mention in the DUEF B2 opens access to the DSA .

Objectives

- Develop written and oral communication skills to acquire linguistic fluency in real-life situations
- Acquire basic knowledge of French culture and society
- Developing university knowledge and know-how
- Prepare for the DUEF exams (including presentation of a dossier of cultural knowledge in C1/C2)

Within the framework of disciplinary courses (3), students choose their 3 options from among the CUEF disciplinary courses and the ETCs offered by the UGA according to their level:

In B1 :
Disciplinary courses CUEF (subject to opening) Literature, Grenoble Capitale des Alpes, Culture and society, Political life, Civilization and mythology, Theater workshop.
- Semester 1 (September - December 2025) :
Grenoble Capitale des Alpes, Culture and society, Discovering French-language literary texts (+ Vie politique*)
- Semester 2 (January - May 2026)
Civilization and mythology, Culture and society, Discovering French-language literary texts
One ETC Language or Sport

In B2, C1, C2 :
Disciplinary courses CUEF (subject to opening) Literature, Business, History, Art history, Theater workshop.
- Semester 1 (September - December 2025) :
History, Business, Art history (+ literature*)
- Semester 2 (January - May 2026)
Literature, History, Environment and Society (+ Cinema*)
One ETC Language or Sport
One (or more in C1/C2) ETC Interdisciplinary(s) (ETCI***) to choose from UGA's extensive catalog of training courses.

* Courses in reserve depending on the number of registrations.
** In conjunction with the UGA Language Service (SDL) or the UGA Sports Service (SUAPS).
*** The ETCIs cover different themes: Learning and the world of education; Citizenship, institutional issues and social representations; Understanding science; Professional projects, creative projects and innovation; Literary, linguistic and media issues; Climate and environmental transitions and sustainable development.

Public and access conditions

This diploma is designed for internationally mobile students, exchange semesters, students applying to a French university or simply expatriates living in Grenoble.
To apply, you must :
- Hold a baccalauréat or equivalent
- Have a minimum acquired level of A2 in French.

Group assignment

When you first register, you take an online placement test, which enables us to assign you to a group suited to your level. This test can be supplemented by an oral interview (in person or by zoom). The first two days of the course are devoted to activities to help you fine-tune your level groups.
