Richard Karl Freiherr von Weizsäcker, born April 15, 1920 in Stuttgart and died January 31, 2015 in Berlin, was a German statesman.
Much of his childhood was spent abroad. At the age of 17, he went to England to study philosophy and history at Oxford, then continued his studies in France, notably at the CUEF in Grenoble.
In 1984, he ran for President of France and was elected in the first round with a large majority. He was unanimously re-elected in 1989.
He was a popular and respected President.
