International class

At the initiative of the French Embassy in India, the CUEF and the Faculty of Sciences at the UGA offer a one-year international class that will enable students to join a Bachelor's program in Science and Technology at the DLST.

Presentation of the training offer

1st Semester: 14 weeks from September 9th to December 20th, 2024
With 276 hours of French as a foreign language (FLE) classes as well as cultural and sports activities, the 1st semester will concentrate on the immersion in the French language, thus allowing a progressive integration in the French culture with the objective of obtaining a B1 language level.
- 276 hours intensive French language cours.
- 28 hours of immersive cultural activities, such as visiting the city and its museums accompanied by a tourist guide.
- 28 hours of tutoring (2 hours/ week) provided by a CUEF teacher.
- Optional : 26 hours of sport, inscription via the SUAPS service of the UGA.

2nd Semester: 13 weeks from January 17th to May 30th, 2025
The 2nd semester will allow for continuous progression in the French language, with the objective to obtain a B2 proficiency level as well as taking disciplinary science courses. General, specialized and university level French courses will be available, completed by three teaching units delivered by the Faculty of Sciences. Concluding the semester, taking the DELF B2 will be accompanied by exam preparation.
- 130 hours of French language classes.
- 10 hours of mentoring with French students.
- 26 hours of French classes on a university subject.
- 12 hours of DELF preparation.
- 131.5 hours of scientific disciplines : General Chemistry, Discovery of Applied Mathematics and Geometrical Optics.

Description of the scientific disciplines:
General Chemistry: 47.5 hours
This General Chemistry module focuses on molecules and the fundamental concepts of reactivity. It covers hybridization and representations of molecules by detailing various classes of isomers, as well as resonance and the electronic effects of functional groups. A part of these classes will also be dedicated to coordination compounds, including their stereochemistry, the crystal field theory, and ligand exchange reactions. Finally, after a brief introduction to the main functional groups and nomenclature rules, a last part will be devoted to intermolecular interactions and reactivity in chemistry, specifically studying substitution and elimination reactions. Tutorials and practical work will illustrate and complement the theoretical aspect of this course.

Discovery of Applied Mathematics: 54 hours
The course is structured around two main themes: Image Processing and Applied Statistics.
Objectives: This course aims to introduce students to the field of Mathematical Engineering, providing them with an initiation to the methods and software commonly used to solve industrial problems related to applied mathematics. It is designed for students pursuing studies in mathematics, offering them a glimpse of a less academic aspect of their selected discipline. It is also suitable for students following an engineering sciences track, helping them understand the Engineering Mathematics.

Geometrical Optics: 30 hours
The lectures are structured in two parts, each consisting of a traditional lecture followed by a session based on questions raised by students. The first two lectures focus on the Snell-Descartes laws, and the subsequent two cover lenses (simple assembly and combinations of lenses). The course booklet is divided into 4 chapters:
0/ Review and fundamentals
1/ Snell-Descartes laws
2/ Thin lenses and plane mirrors
3/ Optical instruments, aberrations, and the human eye. Tutorials and practical sessions will illustrate and complement the theoretical aspect of this course.

Accessible Degrees after the International Class:
Bachelor's Degree in Science and Technology (mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, engineering).

Student Life

Accommodation: Possibility of accommodation in private student residences close to campus (4 kilometers), connected by public transportation.
Campus Life: Students will have the opportunity to participate in campus life at the UGA through various student associations, festive, cultural, and sports events organized by the UGA. They also have access to university restaurants and libraries.
The UGA holds a 2-star Bienvenue en France label, paying special attention to the welcome and integration of international students.

Tuition Fees

Training Fees: 5,300 Euros + 30 Euros administrative fees

Application and registration process

Send the completed application form, CV, letter of motivation and academic records (transcript of grades for the past two years + current year) to:
Potential candidates will be interviewed by the academic coordinators of the selected discipline as well as French as a Foreign Language (FLE) coordinators.
If the application is accepted, the CUEF sends a pre-admission letter to the student along with an invoice.

Upon receipt of the pre-admission letter, the student pays the full training fees to the CUEF, which amounts to 5,330 euros, by bank transfer to the CUEF's bank account or by international credit card (except for American Express).
A letter confirming the registration will be sent to the student upon receipt of payment by the CUEF.
