Presentation

Set in the heart of the Alps, the Centre Universitaire des Etudes Françaises (CUEF - University Centre for French Studies) is ready to welcome you all year round, for French courses tailored to your needs and courses in teaching French as a Foreign Language.

Exchanges and encounters since 1896

Since its creation, the Centre has constantly evolved in its quest for quality and innovation. Over the decades, it has established itself as an institution of excellence for the teaching of French as a Foreign Language (FLE).
The CUEF de Grenoble:
- trains some 2,000 students each year, from 100 different countries,
- welcomes over 1,000 candidates during exam and certification sessions,
- provides training for many teachers on missions abroad,
- is home to around 40 teachers and education experts with various specialisations, some of whom are authors of reference works and methods.

An experimental centre for research into FLE teaching methods at Université Grenoble Alpes

The CUEF de Grenoble works to:
- train teachers and develop teaching materials,
- build partnerships for research and training projects at an international level,
- create bridging programs to enable international students to fit into French university as effectively as possible, no matter what their specialisation.

Experience French at the heart of the Alps

At the CUEF, you don’t only learn French in the classroom. You also experience it at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), in a university context, and in the surrounding Grenoble area.
Our range of courses is structured around two main areas: French language and culture, and FLE teacher training.
The CUEF is also an exam centre, where courses are offered to prepare for French as a Foreign Language certifications, such as the internationally recognised DELF and DALF, or diplomas such as the University Diploma of French Studies (DUEF).

An ever-changing course catalogue

Recently, courses on local Rhone-Alpes heritage were added to the catalogue. You can do FLE while hiking in summer or skiing in winter - a great way to combine study and leisure.
In addition to these courses, we are also developing “custom” packages. As part of Université Grenoble Alpes, the CUEF provides support prior to your arrival at university and throughout your studies.
Don’t hesitate to contact us for any specific questions you may have. Our teaching and administrative teams are available to help you with your daily life and create study plans tailored to your objectives.
